Moldy Clothing

Hey Everyone.

My daughter left her jacket outside, and it rained. We were going to wash it the next day but then got side tracked with life and running to sports, and this occurred, We've attempted to wash, but it's still has these mold spots on it. Any ideas on how to get this out of clothing?

Vinegar works well in my experience. Vinegar is a wonderful substitute for fabric softener, it leaves your clothes even softer the fabric softener and no, your clothes don't come out smelling like vinegar. Vinegar also kills mold, including spores trapped in the fibers too. As far as how much, I use a 1/2 - 1 cup or so for a large load, or just till it feels good.

Take it to the cleaners and have a professional clean it. Cleaners have cleaning products not available at the local market.

We grew up near the ocean& everything got moldy. We'd wash it & hang it up in the sun.

Vinegar kills mold best and works well on clothes. I use a cup along with my detergent for a standard load with a 30 minute soak. I have a top load washer so it goes directly in the drum together. It also works well to get oil buildup and fungus out of clothes. I use it to clean my washer as well.

Color safe bleach... it worked on my outdoor fabrics.

Vinegar or ammonia. Murphy oil Soap work great on any odor. It's the only thing I have found that remove the odor from cat spraying.

Hi,try mixing bottle of 409 with ammonia (a little bit) it's what my Ma used for her laundry on car grease anything stains( be careful of fume!)

Mix 1 part white vinegar + 1 part water and soak the affected area (or whole jacket) for 30–60 minutes then wash normally in warm water. Vinegar kills mold and helps remove the smell too.
