Hi there!
This past week Samsung replaced the sleep cycles in the health app with sleep latency. I wish they would have kept it the old way, and added sleep latency as a feature. However, since the change my deep sleep also changed, well, at least that's what the app is telling me. I suddenly only get exactly 20 minutes, for four nights in a row now. That can't be right.

Any suggestions / insights on that? It almost appears it doesn't measure properly.

Thanks!

My sleep numbers in Samsung Health went from 80 to 100 down to 25 to 50 after the last update on my watch 6. Ridiculous. I feel like it is totally useless now.....

This update has completely wrecked my scores for the week.
Normally in low 90s. Now a 63 and an 80 for the two nights since updating.

I read before sleeping. The latency clocked in at a whopping 1hr 40 minutes first night... even though I was asleep 8 minutes after I turned the light out.

I'm going to stop wearing my watch to bed after a full year of great scores. I used to love the Sleep Score and the newer Energy Score, but this is ruining my mornings waking up to these absurd numbers that aren't reflective of reality.

How on earth could this have passed QA and made it to a general release?!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person with this issue. Posted this last week;

I've had my ring since Sept - 2024. After the latest ring update in May 2025, my sleep tracking is no longer accurate. The easiest way to explain it is, all of my sleep metrics appear to be inverted ( 5 hrs awake, 15 mins REM, 1 hr light and 20 mins deep). Prior to the software update, my average sleep scores were in the high 70s to mid 80s. Now my sleep scores for the last week have all been in the mid 20s. Ring has been reset, and all notifications have been verified. Reached out to Samsung Care and literally the 1st question asked was: Are you wearing the ring correctly?

Hopefully Samsung is paying attention and working on a fix.

That sounds about right as I have a few of these issues as well. It really seems like the last software update didn't do the job. I hope this will be remedied by Samsung shortly as everything worked just fine before the update. I hope for all of us a solution will be provided to all of us.

Reached out to Samsung technical support this morning, that was a bad idea as the conversation went nowhere. After asking all of the standard questions they suggested that I send my ring back to Samsung so it could be examined by technical support to identify any issues. Needless to say, if Samsung is aware of the issue, they are not sharing with technical support. We might be in for a long wait for our issues to be addressed.

I have the same feeling. Tech support is not able to help with this issue, so I guess we have to wait for another software update with the hopes it will be fixed. Somehow, I'm just relieved to hear I'm not the only one with an issue. As mentioned, I depend on these numbers and make lifestyle changes if the app shows bad numbers. At least, now I know, it's not my body that's out of whack....

It is, actually, indeed possible you went two weeks without deep sleep. If everything else is recording properly, it is unlikely not to record periods of deep sleep, however brief, if you are having them. The sleep apnea may not have recorded anything because you are not showing signs of sleep apnea. Are you tracking snoring? Are you showing results for snoring? If you are tracking snoring, you will see in the snoring section, either snoring statistics, a message that says "you didn't snore last night", or "snoring wasn't tracked because <insert reason>". Sleep apnea and snoring are only tracked if your phone is plugged in and charging while sleeping and the phone is placed on your nightstand. For all other sleep tracking, the phone does not even have to be in the same room. Also, make sure your watch is snug and didn't loosen up.

The watch uses the same sensors for all phases of sleep. Which sleep state gets recorded is entirely dependent on your body's processes. Different heart and respiratory rates for each stage of sleep.

So far no responses from Samsung. Going to chalk this up to another bug that we will be gaslighted on until it just fixes on a random update someday.

Anything is possible, but after a couple of years of always having some deep sleep and then suddenly none for an extended period of sleep is not likely, when nothing in my habits, schedule and activity has changed much. The sleep apnea only requires 2 nights out of 10 to get a result of yes or no on sleep apnea and it reports the result of regardless of whether positive or negative. My phone is always on the charger and on the night stand.

The watch has the same sensors for all phases of sleep but these are just collecting the raw data; the algorithm is responsible for convertng, formulating and reporting the result in a meaningful way. It is more likely that these new skewed results are the result of programming or mechanical issues.

Same problem with both my watch and my husband's. We both always got consistent, very good amounts of deep sleep. And then about a week ago, our measures dropped to just a few minutes each night. Nothing major has changed in our lives; we don't feel sleep deprived, even on the 0 minutes of deep sleep nights. I think Samsung wrecked it's software in its recent update. Now, I have to convince my husband that he's not on the brink of d eath because he's getting no deep sleep. . .
