Galaxy S23 Ultra 'sees' Galaxy Ring, but refuses to pair.

I just replaced my old S22 Ultra with an S23 Ultra. When I try to pair the phone to my Galaxy ring, I can't get it to pair. I go through all the steps and I do get the pop-up message that says it found the ring with a connect button. When I tap the 'Connect' link, I says it's resetting the ring, then it jumps to the generic functionality that you get the first time you go into the app when nothing is connected. I get a message "Couldn't pair with Galaxy Ring ((4H5E). Make sure that it's ready to pair." I've tried uninstalling the Wearable app and the Health app and reinstalling them. There is no remaining 'ghost' listing for the ring that carried over from the old phone under Bluetooth. I've tried holding the button on the case for a long time, maybe 15 seconds, since I read that will reset the ring. I've tried turning off the wifi since I also read that can sometimes interfere. About the only thing I haven't tried is a factory reset of the phone since it was refurbished when I got it and I've only had it for 2 weeks. The ring has never been paired to this phone, and I did unpair the ghost record for the ring and my Galaxy 6 watch. The Galaxy 6 watch pairs fine. I've searched a lot of potential issues, and watched a lot of videos, but it just won't pair. I don't know how to make the ring 'ready to pair'. I've tried the hold the button for 3 seconds method and I've also tried holding it for 7 seconds since I read that was a hard reset for the ring. i've looked at various permissions, and they all seem correct.

Is it still connected to your old S22U? If so, you may need to first reset it on the S22U and then pair it to the S23U.

The old S22 Ultra is unavailable. The device was run over and was completely inoperable. I've ince disposed of it.
