Can someone help me please.

I've just upgraded to a S21 5G and have someone else's calendar notifications popping up and can view their full calendar. I remember it happened a few years back on my old phone and I just uninstalled it as I couldn't fathom out what to do. Now I wish to use the calendar to log my hospital appointments, so want to get it sorted. I'm sure it's for someone else living in the village and do have her phone number in my contacts, we've got the same first name if that's got anything to do with it.

Is there anything I can do or should I contact her? It's a bit embarrassing though and don't want her to know I've read her personal calendar info.

Many thanks x

You’ve definitely stumbled into something that shouldn’t be happening — you should never be able to see another person’s private calendar unless they’ve deliberately shared it. The good news is that this is almost certainly a settings/account mix-up rather than a security breach.

Here’s what you can do to sort it:

---

1. Check which accounts are linked to your Calendar

Open the Calendar app on your S21.

Tap the menu (three lines) → scroll to Manage calendars / Calendars to display (wording may vary).

See if there are any accounts listed that you don’t recognize.

If you see one with your neighbor’s name or email, that’s where her calendar is coming from.

---

2. Remove or hide the unwanted calendar

Go to Settings → Accounts and backup → Manage accounts.

Look through the accounts listed (Google, Microsoft, Samsung, etc.).

If you see an account that isn’t yours, remove it.

If the account is yours, but it’s just showing extra calendars, go into Google Calendar (or the Samsung Calendar app) → uncheck that calendar so it doesn’t sync.

---

3. Clear Calendar app data (if needed)

Sometimes old data lingers:

Settings → Apps → find Calendar → Storage → Clear data.

Re-open Calendar and sign in with only your account.

---

4. Why this might have happened

If you set up your phone using a contact transfer app or SIM swap, it might have mistakenly pulled in her Google or Samsung account if your contacts are linked.

Having the same first name doesn’t matter directly — but if you once saved her contact with calendar-sharing enabled, that could have carried over.

---

5. Do you need to contact her?

No — unless you think she shared her calendar with you by mistake (e.g., through Google Calendar sharing). If that’s the case, it would be kind to let her know so she can revoke the sharing. But if the account somehow got added to your phone during setup, you can just remove it on your end without needing to say anything.

---

✅ Once you remove the stray account/calendar, you’ll be able to use your S21’s calendar normally for your hospital appointments.
