Unable connecting the phone to desktop computer via USB cable for data transfer

Hi all,

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phone
Desktop computer

Previously after connecting the phone to computer via an USB cable, it pop up 2 taps;
Deny
Allow

Clicking "Allow" then I can connect the phone to my desktop computer for data transfer. I suppose that it is the result after updating the software of the phone. It is now pop up ;
"Connect for charging only. Tap the USB notification to use USB for transferring files"

Please advise where can I find "USB notification? How to tap it? Thanks

When you connect a USB cable to a computer or external storage, you should get a notification on your phone. Tap that notification to change between charging and data transfer.

When you see the "Connect for charging only" in your notification panel you should only need to tap it and select transfer media / android auto and it should work.
Also make sure Auto Block is toggled off in settings.

Make sure you use the Samsung USB cable that came with your phone. Not all USB cables are created equal!

Make sure you have auto blocker off. You can also make the default action file transfer in developer options. It will always charge whether it's the default action or not.

Hi all,

Lot of thanks for your advice.

I have tried your advice multiple times before posting. It seems the phone connected/mounted, showing "Samsung Android" mounted. Clicking "Samsung Android" icon shows "Folder is empty".

I used the same USB cable. Before I can get the phone (S24) connected to my computer (same computer) without problem. The USB cable still can connect my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra phone to my computer without problem. 2 taps shows "Deny" and "Allow"

Auro blocker is in settings, security and privacy. If it's on, it blocks all traffic via USB, so you can keep it on if you are not actively transmitting data, but turn it off when you are. Especially useful if you plug in to charge at public charging stations.

I found "auto blocker" under "Security and Privacy"

Your phone is protected

It is ON. I can't turn it off. It needs PIN number. Where can I find this number. Tks

The pin would be your phone's PIN. If you don't have a pin, password or fingerprint to unlock your phone, you would have to set one. You should always have more than one unlock method anyway, in case one doesn't work, or you forget it. There are many security fratures that you can't use a pattern for or use if you didn't enable security.

It looks quite funny to me. The PIN to unlock S24 phone screen is 6 digits, NOT 4 digits. With that 6 digit PIN I can't change "lock" to 'unlock". But still its folder is EMPTY. There is nothing on the folder?

What folder are you referring to? With auto blocker on, all folders will look empty. This is a security measure to protect your data. If you set a fingerprint, you will be able to unlock the security settings with your fingerprint instead of a pin.

On Galaxy S24 phone:

-> Security and Privacy -> Auto Blocker

It is now off !!!!

On computer I can mount S24 phone (Samsung Android)

-> start New window

It pop up "Samsung Android" window, showing words "Folder is empty.

Besides USB connection to computer worked on Galaxy S24 without problem before. Why ???

I just tested my old Galaxy S9 phone. On computer after mounting it -> New window;

It popup "Samsung Android" window and shows "card" and "phone", 2 items. The folder is NOT empty.

Clicking "phone" it shows;

data, DCIM, DJI, Documents, Download, etc.

The connection, Phone to Computer, works without problem on Galaxy S9 phone.

Why Galaxy 24 can't work ???????

But the connection works without problem before ????

The same USB cable, the same computer ??????

It took me a day searching Internet to find this video. Now when I plug in the phone with an USB cable it connects PC automatically for downloading phone data to PC. The solution steps are NOT simple and straight forwards.

But what is the cause making my phone for charging ONLY? I don't know? I haven't add new software to my phone recently.
