Install unknown app

So I just upgraded my galaxy s22 ultra to android 15 and noticed that my settings app has install unknown apps enabled by default.

I know I didn't turn it on. Auto blocker is enabled so no apps can install from unknown sources. Why would this be enabled by default?

Interesting. I have an s24 ultra and mine was not turned on by default. I wonder if it's a glitch or could you have possibly turned it on accidentally before you upgraded? Either way, I would suggest sending in a bug report.

The 'Settings' app is made by Samsung, so Samsung-developed apps will only be installed (via. Settings). From what I know, this will not put you're phone at risk.

I have a Samsung 22 Ultra and just noticed the same thing with at least 5 system apps.. There is no way for me to change them either.. I have never seen this before and cant believe thats ok...

Customer support told me it was set to YES and blocked for the developers. So they can access MY app and download apps from unknown sources at the developers discretion. It's easier. WHY ON EARTH would a developer need to access MY privately owned cell phone? They wouldn't. I asked, if this is such an important reason then why arent ALL of the apps set to this default and blocked from changing setting of YES? no response except its easier for the developers. To add the setting of AUTO BLOCKER seems ridiculous. They're going to 'over ride' the selected YES and block it from allowing EVEN THOUGH it has been set this way to make it easier for the developers to download apps from unknown sources without my knowledge and my ACTUAL permission.

Can someone make any sense of this? If the developers are in such a great need to download apps to MY personal phone that it must be checked YES why am I being given a false sense of security by selecting the use of AUTO BLOCKER?

Is autoblocker a real thing? If so, how can it be if these developers just have to have permission? Im not a genius, but I'm also not dumb enough to buy into the answer support offered. Ir dumb enough to believe autoblocker is capable of over riding the developers MUST HAVE need to download apps from an unknown source.
