Because a crop can never be as good as a lens because a lens would allow the use of all the pixels in the sensor.

This crop zoom discards pixels to achieve the zoom.

Samsung should have put a period after sensor and dropped the rest.

And someone could argue "Oh, but pixel binning, blah blah" etcetera, but on an all other things being equal basis, the statement isn't true
OK. But I think there is something at work here.

I can take better picture by the main camera zoomed in, than the 3x zoom lens.
What I do is that, I'll use the main lens to take a picture with lit zoom (1.5 or 2) then I'll open the photo in gallery, zoom in a bit more and run remaster. This way I get better result than 3x zoom

I understand the concern here, and tend to agree. The "Auto" mode is notorious for using different lenses and digital cropping to achieve its "no hassle" functionality. That's why Pro Mode and Expert RAW are much better, because you can ensure your lenses and settings are exactly what you want them to be. The wording should definitely be removed or, at the very least, edited.

I think it's intentionally vague, which is just as bad. It could be "as good as an optical lens" if it's compared to a terrible optical lens from some inferior device. But your correct, this statement is false unless qualifying stipulations are added to the statement

I get what you've tried to say but it's not completely a false statement until you have actual 2x optical image compared to this 2x crop zoom. I am also not saying it's a true statement. It's a gray area that should not be categorized as black or white.

Apple also uses similar phrase like "optical-quality zoom" for cropping the 48MP sensor for 2x zoom.
