Before someone gives me a lesson about SMS, MMS, RCS, and iMessage, I already understand that. I know images are sent MMS, but on my Z fold 3, and s8 before that, images came in crystal clear unless the signal was really bad. Now every image I get is extremely grainy, but the images I send come out fine on the other end. I have attached an image of a screenshot my wife sent me the other day. That is how every image comes in, but if I were the one to send that image, it would have come out clear. I have also tried multiple texting apps.
