I can't do the tiny 2ft OEM cables that come with the phone, I can walk around and reach everything I need in my bedroom with this 10 footer lol I have 2 since I have 2 45w chargers. Longer cables are a godsend. But yes, you are absolutely correct that the 45w brick needs to be at least rated for a consistent 5a for use and for safety! Thankfully, most aftermarket mfg's on like Amazon selling the 45w charger include some sort of cable that is safe to use, but not all of them! If they don't specify it then I wouldn't trust it.
