Yes, you can have Samsung Messages or Google Messages as your default messaging app*.

Samsung Messages has an icon of a chat bubble with three dots (See attached photo).

*Settings>Apps>Choose default apps>SMS app

Yes, you can. The problem only is with Samsung Messenger you can get RCS chat.

Google Messenger does have RCS if you using unlock s23.

I'm not sure about Boost Moblie but on my unlocked s23 ultra with AT&T sim Samsung Messenger doesn't have RCS, only Google do.
