Unable to Open Settings App

The Settings app no longer works . When I click it on my home screen, nothing happens.

Swipe down from the top of the screen
Click the gear icon

Sorry, but that did not work. I'll tell you that there is little number one on the top right of the gear. Is that the problem?

I tried to scroll down from the top that doesn't work. I did an update. Everything changed i can't get into settings or anything else.

@Sam75_bruin You replied to a thread that is one year old.

To get to the settings after the UI 7 update, swipe down from the top left side of the screen.

Since installing an update this morning, my phone is almost unusable. Settings doesn't work & I tried what you suggested & it didn't work.

My back button has moved from the right side of the screen to the left, and the button that was in the middle down the bottom is gone all together.

I used to swipe down from the top of the screen to access things like Sceen Recorder & Hot Spot, but that's gone.

I tried updateding 6 aps and they've just been spinning & not updating for half an hour.

There are a few more issues, but there's too many at once to remember them all at once.

It's as if the update activated viruses, but I don't open dodgy links.

I know I'm being too vague for you to help. I guess I'm just looking for a way to reset it all.
