topic Gallery photos OneDrive question in Galaxy S23

Recently I moved photos from my job from the main gallery to the secure folder gallery, no problem. However, I noticed most of my personal photos, "over 300," were missing. I then went into settings and turned on "Sync with OneDrive" and they reappeared.

Question, are the photos on the phone or OneDrive and if OneDrive, how did they get there? TIA

That's why I don't buy phones without a Micro SD Card slot. I don't save anything to some "cloud" in which I don't know where it is.

Remove card from phone, put it into new phone and everything is moved. Takes less than a minute AND not one bite of data is used.
