Hi Samsung Community,

I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy S23, and I've encountered a rather frustrating issue. Despite setting my ringtone volume to high for incoming calls, I keep noticing that the ringtone is automatically muted, and I miss all my calls. This happens even though I’ve made sure the Do Not Disturb mode is completely turned off.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

Checked the volume settings: The ringtone volume is set to high, but it seems to mute itself randomly.

Disabled Do Not Disturb: I have confirmed that Do Not Disturb is disabled, yet the issue persists.

Checked for software updates: My device is up to date, and I don’t see any pending updates.

Rebooted the phone: Multiple restarts haven't fixed the issue.

I’ve also looked online for solutions, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have suggestions on how I can resolve it? I’m really missing important calls, and it's becoming quite frustrating.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I can certainly see how frustrating it can be when your ringer is muting itself it seems! Here are a few more things we can check!

Check for Adaptive Sound:
Some Samsung phones have an "Adaptive Sound" feature that adjusts audio based on your surroundings. This could be unintentionally silencing the ringer.
How to check: Go to Settings, search for "Adaptive Sound", and turn it off.
2. Disable Focus Modes/Do Not Disturb:
Make sure "Do Not Disturb" or other focus modes (like Sleep Mode) aren't active, as they can silence notifications and ringtones.
How to check: Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the quick panel, and ensure these modes are off.

Check for Conflicts from Rogue Apps:
Sometimes, a third-party app can interfere with the phone's sound settings.
How to check: Try putting your phone into Safe Mode, which disables third-party apps, and see if the issue persists.
If the problem resolves in Safe Mode, then identify the conflicting app by enabling them one by one and checking for the issue.

If you've tried all of these plus the things you've already attempted, and you're still having the same issue the next two things I would suggest are to have a certified technician take a look at it to see what may be going on and to also submit an error report by going to the Samsung Members app > Get help > Send feedback > Error reports.

You can use the following link to find a list of service centers in the U.S. that can do the repair: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location or by calling customer support at 1-800-726-7864. For service outside the U.S., please use this link: https://www.samsung.com/us/common/visitlocationsite.html I do apologize for any inconvenience.
