Separate app sound...

Really dumbfounded on Samsung's decisions to remove features or bury them deep into different settings after every update. It's pretty funny to see me check for my phone when it's an actual text message but its just email with the same notification sound now. If somebody could point me in the right direction to remedy this I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi thanks for responding. So after when you I update I noticed that all my apps now now I have the same notification sound whether it's before there was a separate notification sound for each app. That option appears to have been missing with one ui8

Make sure notification categories are turned on under settings > notifications > advanced settings. Then go into the individual app's notification settings to make sure they're set the way you want.

No problem. Notification categories were added some time ago. Might've even been One UI 6 or earlier.

Yeah i already had that switched on, but still playing same notification sound for apps and messanger.

Long press the icon of the app you want to customize notifications for. Tap the circled 'i' to go to app info. Tap "notifications" and then "notification categories" to modify what you want.

Nope the separate sound is now missing from app options. I figured once I toggled the separate app notifications in advance settings it would appear under the app settings but it's not.

You need to use the reply button otherwise the person you are responding to doesn't get a notification

Ok that finally did it Haha. It must have gotten reset after the latest update. Should probably update my Samsung and 3rd party apps too.

Try restarting your phone. It might need that to have the notification categories show up. If that doesn't do it, clear cache & data for the app in question.

Also make sure you wipe device cache in recovery. See this post for steps on how to do that:
