This week, Google gave us the ability to roll back problematic Play system updates right on our devices through Mainline services (found in Google system services). Since my S23 Ultra has been stuck on the July update, I decided to see if I could roll back and force a current Play system update. Doesn't look like it:

Found under settings > Google > all services > system services

I see this incompatibility message on my S23U and Tab S9, both of which have been updated to One UI 8/Android 16. I do have the "remove updates" option on my OnePlus 13, which is still on Android 15. This message, as well as the numerous complaints from other users about this issue, leads me to believe that there's a systemic problem with Google Play system updates on at least Samsung devices running One UI 8 (possibly other OEMs' devices running Android 16).

It doesn't look like users can do anything except wait for a fix from Google, which doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon. If community moderators are able to raise this issue up the flagpole, it would be much appreciated. Meanwhile, I may try to use the Google Play System Update Rollbacks (GPSUR) tool through ADB. I'll report back if I have any success.

I have the same problem on my S25U Ultra. I'm sure that Google will roll out a fix soon. In the meantime, I wouldn't really worry too much. The old method of rolling back Google Play system updates takes a bit using ADB.

Unfortunately, there's really nothing anyone can do. Just be patient; eventually, the bugs will be patched. It's possible that the November update will fix a few things, but as for Google mainline services, that's a completely different thing since mainline services patch Android directly. If a fix becomes available, I will post it on the Members app. In the meantime, I don't recommend you try using the ADB method; it may make things worse. Also, Google Device Health Services isn't working correctly either.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up. No, I haven't used am not using an Emulator. If I selected it somehow, I'm not aware. Although, I see how some systems "prompt" quickly next to an option like "Next" or "Go" or "Continue". This is usually in the shopping type apps.. also, I've read on and have noticed that Samsung has been using Pixel as sort of "promotional". Looking at changing my wi-fi and several plans suggest upgrading to Google Pixel. Finally, it is not showing up as a device of mine. It was showing up in the notifications as an update for something on the phone. I'll have to check for specifics. It may have been the ADVANCED AI suggesting this as well. Hmmm. Thanks for letting me know. I'll be aware.

Device Health still runs on the S25U; it's just an error message. I also have a Pixel 10 Pro XL. The problem is with Google Mainline Services, which is responsible for pushing out Google Play system updates. This isn't the first time Mainline Services has caused a problem., Also the New Google Quick Share ext is available on Samsung devices
