Is there a way that works permanently to prevent my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra from automatically playing whatever I was listening to yesterday or last week or last month as soon as I enable Bluetooth on the phone?

I don't know if this is a Samsung issue or an Android issue or a media player issue, but it's very annoying (as you probably know.)

It seems to have something to do with the "Media output" function of my phone which I cannot control.

Here's what I've tried so far: disabling Bluetooth, un-pairing every Bluetooth device paired to my phone, re-installing media players, restarting the phone and clearing its cache. None of these measures help. The phone somehow 'remembers' what I was listening to and re-populates it.

We all know that media players don't let you stop playing, only pause. Bad on them, but that shouldn't mean that my phone will enable them to continue playing automatically.

If there really is no way to control this from the phone, I'll consider a third-party solution, if it's legitimate.

Thanks for your help.

Note to respondents trying to be helpful: I will not appreciate nor acknowledge replies that are a copy and paste of old instructions that readers have confirmed do not work, nor replies that concern a related but different question. Thanks for your co-operation.

If you are using Samsung media player, go to the settings and scroll down to "allow external devices to start playback" and toggle it off. This way, your last song will still appear in the window, but will not automatically play. I don't use the Samsung player, I use a different one. One that actually has an "x" to close it down. I open it from it's own app icon, the media player widget defaults to Samsung Music.

After doing further research I was disappointed to learn that there is not, in fact, any way to globally stop automatic media play triggered by Bluetooth, even though annoyed users have been complaining about this for years. Instead, I'll have to install Tasker, and maybe even run an ADB command, as other users have done.
