Group chats not being seen in Google Messages

I am having issues with my Google Messenger App. Some of the group chats I am in my messages are not being seen. Not all group chats only some. I have checked that my RCS is on to toggle between Rcs and SMS. I checked with the other people in the group that theirs is on also. Some of the groups are all iPhone users some have both Android and a IPhone.

I have tried all of the tips on line. My updates are all done, I have turned it on and off. I have turned off RCS restarted my phone.

I went to Att they told me not an issue on their end. I went to Geek Squad they had no idea how to fix it.

I'm hoping someone can help me here. I have an S23 Ultra.

It's an issue with carrier implementations of RCS and how iPhones deal with that. Android to Android is a non-issue as long as everyone is using Google Messages. Throwing things like residual support for Samsung Messages into the mix could cause compatibility issues as well.

I haven't been able to identify which specific carriers interact in what specific ways at this point, but I have noticed that read receipts simply do not work with some iPhones.

The fact that those individuals with iPhones on specific carriers are involved in your group chats is likely what is breaking them.

I never get read receipts from iPhone users, whether individual messages or group chats.

Read receipts from iPhones using ATT/ATT MVNOs work fine for me, but I am on an ATT MVNO, so that may have to do with specific network implementations, idk. T Mobile seems to as well. I never get receipts from iPhones on Verizon.

It is so weird, because the chat I am in for work was working fine. Then all of the sudden yesterday none of my messages are going through, but I am getting all of the groups messages.

This happens to me also. I don't see my sister in laws messages half of the time in our family group chat. It's annoying.

Google RCS was too glitchy. I was not getting half and not sending either. I went back to MMS and everything is OK except I have to send every image 2X . I just want MMS to work

All of a sudden these are problems not encountered previously. What is actually happening that what was a universal language is now broken and unreliable ?

Contact your carrier regarding issues sending/receiving messages. Not aware of any issue with RCS or MMS protocols themselves. No issues on my end, everything works as expected.

I've been struggling since Jan 2026. AT&T has no answers. The month i pay off my phone is the month this started happening.

S23 ULTRA here. Every group text that comes in, comes back from the individual separated. Then after time passes, a regular text moves over to group text and you can read it. But gif files 100% of time goes to individual inbox and says "Unknown " and the file tries to constantly download.

My husband and I have S23 Ultra and we can't send gif files. I know all iPhone to Android is an issue. But this is happening across the board for us.
