USB Settings grayed out

My USB settings are grayed out and I cannot connect my S23 to my laptop for file transfer. Any ideas how to change the settings so that I can access and use the USB port on my S23 phone?

Connect your phone to your laptop
On your phone's notification panel click USB Charging
Click Transferring files
You should now be able to access your files on your laptop.

Thanks for the quick answer.

Unfortunately, I don't see the USB Charging notification on the notification panel, I actually don't see any USB related notifications. It is like the phone isn't connected at all when connected with my laptop via a USB cable, and I have tried several different cables.

Have you tried a different USB port on your laptop? You should at least see a USB Charging notification on your phone.

Are you able to get to the developer options? Also, try installing Samsung USB drivers before connecting the phone. Normally, you will see a notification as @ Pianodude58 said.

Yes, I can get to developer options, but I don't see anything about USB there. I have just installed Samsung USB driver on my laptop, but that didn't help. I think I need to bring my phone to a professional to check if the USB port is working.

There is an option for default USB configuration.

I am assuming that other USB devices are seen by your laptop, right?

Yes, my other USB devises are seen by my laptop.

I don't see the default USB configuration under Developer settings.

It has always been part of Samsung mobile devices as far back as i can remember.

I think you need to take your device to an authorized Samsung service center to have your port evaluated. It sounds like the pin in the port that handles that task is probably broken or corroded.

So it may sound stupid, but I had the same issue on my S24 Ultra, and it was solved by using the original cable that goes with the Samsung phone. I had lost mine, so I had to steal a cable from a family member's A50 or smth and it worked like a charm. No other type C cable in the house worked, including fancy ones like Baseus or Ugreen, only the original Samsung cable from the phone box. Good luck!
