Still on Android 14; Can I update to 15 ... or 16?

I've seen other posts here asking about updating an S23. Many were purchased on the black market. I purchased this refurbished phone SM-911IU Baseband version S911USQU2CXCG on Amazon. It is unlocked and I am on Consumer Cellular. Is it possible to update this phone to a newer version of Android?

You will need a SIM from the original carrier or you will have to get unlocked firmware flashed at an authorized repair center.

Please share a screenshot of your about phone > software information screen, specifically the service provider software information.

Your phone was originally carrier-locked to Verizon and it's looking for updates from Verizon servers. Your options are:

1. Temporarily install a Verizon SIM (it doesn't have to be active) to get updates. You will have to do this every time there's an update.

2. Take your phone to an authorized service center to have them flash unlocked firmware. There will be a fee for this service, but it will allow you to get OTA updates regardless of which carrier's SIM is installed. See this link to find a location near you:
