Hotspot connected but no internet

The only answer that anyone has given to this is that it's a carrier issue. Thats a lie.

Here's the detailed fix, credit to RellyOhBoy

Problem: After the Samsung One UI 8 update, the mobile hotspot stopped working.

Cause: The update removed “dun” from the APN type, which is required for tethering.

Fix:

**Option A – Edit existing APN (if fields are editable):**

1. Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Access Point Names.

2. Open your active APN.

3. In the APN type field, add “,dun” to the end (no spaces).

4. Save the changes and restart your phone.

**Option B – Copy and create a new APN (if fields are locked):**

1. Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Access Point Names.

2. Tap “+” to add a new APN.

3. Copy all details from your current APN.

4. In the APN type field, enter: default,supl,mms,dun

5. Save the new APN and select it.

6. Restart your phone.

Your hotspot should now work again.

APNs are tied to your carrier. In a way it is a carrier issue. It's having a problem getting that connection from your mobile carrier which is what the APN settings are for. If you deleted your APN and settings you wouldn't even have signal and your phone wouldn't work.. so people aren't really wrong. Though I will say I'm very glad that you are sharing the solution for other people that have the issue

I realize that it a carrier setting. The only reason I stated my post like I did is because no one had a problem before the UI8 update and when Samsung user came here with their problem it seemed as though they were being dismissed without thought. I personally feel that it was a poor response to their community. After all, it wasn't an issue until the update.

Thanks so much. The fix worked. That said, is this a OneUI update bug, or are the APNs set by my carrier Google Fi? I am really confused on why this broke. I need hotspot for productivity reasons..
