I have checked everything i know with background apps and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. I know about the current Google play bug and social media apps sucking memory and battery in the battery. I have a portable charger im using for now but magnetic is a good idea

On S23 ultra. Sudden battery issues. Will not hold a charge long, will have sudden drops of 10%. Was happening right as the last security update. Ive tried all kinds of troubleshooting outside of battery cache partition since its no longer available. Are we waiting for an update? Contacting support? Replacing batteries? Not really wanting to upgrade if I don't have to

It's possible that your battery issues are associated with a recent update, but it is also worth considering that the S23U is now 3 years old. It is typical for Li-ion phone batteries of that age to have degraded to some extent.

You can run a battery diagnostic in the support tab of the members app to check the reported state of your battery.

Your most likely next step is having the device diagnosed at a certified Samsung repair center and performing a battery replacement if necessary. Find one near you: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/locations/

The battery comes back as "good" in diagnostics. I got mine in September 2023. With it being a sudden issue, im worried about it being a software issue that replacing the battery won't fix. However open to your feedback and knowledge.

Actual battery failure is notoriously difficult to accurately detect from a software standpoint. Device diagnostics can sometimes come back clean in spite of an underlying issue and aren't always the best indicator.

It could certainly be software related. Adaptive battery feature may have also reset, though I wouldn't expect that after just a security patch. Abnormal battery drain can occur in the 7-14 days following an update.

However 10% in a matter of minutes would typically indicate a hardware failure. If the issue worsens or persists beyond the recommended waiting period, service center is your best bet.

Are there any background apps running? Also, you might want to consider one of those magnetic batteries that piggyback your phone. If you get a good one, they work pretty good as far as prolonging your charge, I know that doesn't fix your problem, but I mean it might help

I haven't even noticed extra warmth thats out of the ordinary. Ive never had this happen, my device is only 2 and a half years old. Hoping its just im unlucky and a replacement will solve it. If its software that caused it im not sure I'll stay with Samsung if its a cross generation issue
