Samsung messages

I just brought my son the a16 yesterday and today his phone updated this morning and he can see in his Samsung messages when his contacts reads his messages. I have the s24 ultra and mine is not showing the read receipts at all even when I text my sons new phone it doesn't show on his end and I don't have the dot on my contacts in his phone like the other contacts. I wanted to know do I need to do something on my end or do I have to wait for a update like his phone did this morning

Switch both devices to Google Messages and turn on RCS Chats, you will not have this problem.

If you read I'm using Samsung messages and so is my son I don't use Google messages

Toggle on Read receipts

Thank you I'm going to try to uninstall and reinstall Samsung messages I can see that on my sons settings and has the a16 mine is not updated I really appreciate you showing me this

Only one thing to add: sometimes with some people who use iPhones, it also doesn't show.

It wouldn't let me uninstall I will just be patient and let it update whenever it happens this is what my settings shows but my sons shows exactly how yours show

Yes, that is the latest for the S24 Ultra. I have the S25 Ultra. That's why it's different.

My son has prepaid at&t and just got his phone yesterday and he has it and he has a lower model

Yes, AT&T supports it. You shouldn't have any problems. The problem is that you don't have chat settings on your Samsung Messages. I don't know why.

It's because your phone is AT&T locked; that's why it doesn't have it. Call AT&T and see what they tell you, because your son's phone has it.
