I had to replace my battery and one of the circuit boards after a recent update killed my phone. Since then it has been working fine, but just yesterday I noticed it is over heating and the battery is draining dramatically fast. I had it in max battery save mode a d was losing something like 5% charge every 10-20 minutes, with no usage. Anyone know what is going on? This started out of nowhere. I just this morning downloaded the newest update, seemed to be just security.

I lost about 50% battery in about 3 hours this morning on regular battery mode but almost no using my phone, just in my pocket.

Check Battery Usage: Go to Settings > Battery to see what app is using the most power. If an app you rarely use is at the top, uninstall it.

Boot into Safe Mode: If the phone still runs hot, run the phone in Safe Mode (all third-party apps disabled). If the phone cools down and the battery stops draining, a third-party app is the culprit.

Re-calibrate the Battery: Since it is a new battery, run it down to 0% until the phone turns off, then charge it to 100% uninterrupted
Based on the symptoms described—severe overheating, massive battery drain (5% in 10–20 mins while idle), and recent service—your phone is likely experiencing a runaway background process, possibly triggered by the new security update or a faulty hardware repair component.

Here is a breakdown of what is likely happening and how to fix it:

Immediate Probable Causes

Post-Update Indexing: Software updates often cause the phone to work hard in the background re-indexing files, syncing data, and optimizing apps. This typically causes extreme heat and drain for 24–48 hours.

Defective New Components: Even if it worked for a few days, a faulty third-party battery or poor connection on the repaired circuit board (specifically the Power Management IC) can cause sudden overheating and poor efficiency.

"Stuck" Process: A newly updated app or the OS itself is likely in a "loop," attempting to run a task that never finishes, causing constant CPU usage and heat

I went into settings, then under apps and accessed knox, the 3 dot on top right i was able to reverse the updates on the knox app. Now its no longer showing in the apps menu. I'm not sure yet if its fixed my issue yet. But my phone didn't drop 10 percent while typing this reply so im optimistic since I was losing 15 percent in under 10 minutes

I definitely understand that. But im not willing to have a dead phone. I'm not recommended, just stating what I did and results. And I know I can update it from the samsung store once samsung figures out to to make it functional.

As an update, I force stopped Knox Matrix and also Smartswitch (received a notification that it was using a lot of battery) and things today seem to be back to normal. Not sure if what I did fixed it, or if it just finished whatever background tasks were going on, but glad it seems to be ok!

I had the same issue and while trying to resolve it I accidentally put my phone in safe mode. 5 minutes later I not the phone cooled down. Took the phone out of safe mode and still working fine. Tried it on my wife phone that had the same issue and worked on hers as well.
