Sometimes I'm charging my phone, and when I turn it on, it says 0% battery and then it dies after about 2 seconds. I want to know if this is normal for an s24 and why it happens.

Is the phone dead and off when putting on the charger? When the battery is completely drained and the phone is off, it's normal to plug it in and the 0% show and disappear right away. You won't start seeing the charging status until about 3%, as the phone has to have gotten a little juice to light it up. When the battery charges to proper amount, you will see the charging status. You will not be able to turn the phone on, til at least 5% (not enough power to start the process). If your phone has an auto start feature, it will turn on automatically during the charging cycle when it reaches enough power to do so. If it stays at 0, and does not charge at all, you will need to bring it for repair.

Also, remove any case and check if the back cover is separating from the phone. This could point to a swelling battery. If that is the case, make sure to replace it immediately.

Hello @CatLover2000, Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I can fully understand how having battery issues can be frustrating and an inconvenience. There are a few things that you can try to remedy the issue. First make sure that you have the latest software update. Recent updates have helped to address battery drain issues. You can also clear the cache partition, to do this power off the unit then hold Volume Up + Power to enter recovery mode, select Wipe cache partition, and reboot the phone. Also try toggling Airplane mode and check your signal strength. A weak signal can affect the battery performance. You can also put unused apps into deep sleep mode to stop
them from running in the background. You can also access additional steps by clicking on this link https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10001538/. Please feel free to let us know if any of these steps helped to resolve the issue.

I have an S23 Ultra and the latest firmware update has taken away the ability to wipe the cache partition. I assume the same is the case with the S24 series.

@SamsungModerator1 , looks like the instructions have to be updated to mark this option as deprecated. I personally wish this option had not been removed but who am I to stand in the way of progress!🙂
