Google Message does not wake the screen when notification received

Now that Google message has been shoved down our throats. I just recently switched to this as my primary text message app from Samsung. How do i get it to wake up my screen like Samsung when I get a text notification? Help....

It's not. This app never light up the screen. I used it before. Does your light up when you receive a notification?

I don't think you can, unless I never found the setting to let you do that. I have an s24 plus and it never had the screen wake up with Google messages. Maybe the closest thing you can do is have always on display turn on with new messages.

On my phone it's the same get same sounds and notification bar popping up at top as with Samsung messages don't think I ever seen it light up the whole screen with a notification

I get everything you mentioned. I was asking is there a way to get this app to light up my screen when the phone is down like the Samsung does.

Anyone know how to remove old contacts from the list only place they're showing up is inside Google messages

The closest you can get is downloading Good Lock from the galaxy app store. Then install edge lighting + and it will display a pop up even if the screen is off.

So what you do is go to settings and go to my apps and click on Google message and it should say displays and you turn on pop up notification

I have an S24 Ultra and my husband has the same exact phone. He uses Google messages and the screen wake works on his phone, but it does not on mine. We have compared all the configurations and they are set exactly the same. But, I still can't get the Google messages to do the screen wake.

Download glimpse from the play store. You can use that to set the screen to wake by certain apps. You can set messages in there. That's what I did
