Since it is an S24, and Samsung Messages is going away, I don't think it would work. Google Messages have RCS, which Samsung Messages doesn't have. It is not pre-installed anymore. But you CAN install Samsung Messages on the Galaxy store.

The microphone does not turn off even when I click it off.It will pick up everything that is said in the room
Also, when I talk, text, it doubles the message automatically, and then when I try to delete the message and not send the second repeated one I have difficulty in deleting it. I have to delete it manually. Instead of long press on one word and swipe the selected area with one backward stroke. This does not happen. I have to delete the second message manually. And it's a pain in the ×@%<$

There are some good features to Google messages and being able to find group messages and enlabeling them. I also like the options of different kinds of emoji and gifs... But it's not worth the hassle of having a microphone that does not turn off or that repeats my messages
This does not happen with samsung

The microphone in the message panel is to send a voice message, not to dictate your text. It does transcribe the text, but also attaches the voice file (what a waste of bandwidth). Use your keyboard microphone for talk to text. I know if someone sends me a voice text, I'm not listening to it. I have also never had a problem with double messages. Might be a bug in the recorder/transcription app. When I choose to talk to text, I just use the keyboard mic.

Misinformation Samsung Messages isn't going anywhere and Samsung Messages does have RCS Messaging (I have Unlocked S24 Ultra on Spectrum/Verizon and have RCS) Samsung is basically trying to make it less confusing for people and made Google Messages the default and the only Messaging App preloaded because of carriers (like AT&T and TMobile for instance) not enabling RCS Messaging in Samsung Messages
