topic Manage Storage on S24 Ultra in Galaxy S24

Can someone explain to me why my storage is increasing by itself? I have not taken pictures or videos and I have not downloaded any apps. Are my installed apps doing this with their updates or something? If so, how can I stop that? I want to preserve my storage. I don't like this. I had an A14 for RDA and it was running out of storage. I decided to get the S24 Ultra for better efficiency and speed and increased storage. I love this S24 but I don't want to be pressured to trade it in just because I am seeing the storage dwindle down so fast in a short period of time. I've only had it for 6 months. Thanks.

I was at 29% just a few days ago and it increasedto 31%!!
Expand the "show more" option. That big turquoise section in the middle should be your apps. Your system should occupy between 12-14 gb. The "other files" category should be things like the apps cache and cache partition, which will expand and contract as the cache cleans itself or holds things. You still have plenty of storage space on your phone, so I wouldn't worry too much until you are running low on space. If you have trash you have not emptied, that will take up space. If you want to clean up your space, you can go to the storage settings of individual apps that are cache hots (like social media, web browsers) and delete the cache from those apps. You can clear the cache partition from your phone. Be aware, though, that even when you clear out the app cache or cache partition, they will fill up again, as it is temporary storage space.

Looks pretty normal. Nothing looks disproportionately outsized. The sytem files looks a little large, but not troubling so. Could just be bevause the OS on your phone has more stuff than my A54 (more features). Empty thae cache partition and the apps caches, that's where the exppanaon vomes from.

Thanks so much for the advice. I just want to keep my phone for a while, and I know I can store more pictures and videos in the cloud as well. I was just concerned because I haven't added anything since I did my transfer of files from one phone to the next.😊

But, you use apps, and the cache expands with temporary files that don't always empty efficiently

You have to go into those apps individually. The usual culprets are socual media apps and web browsers and Google. You can go to the app serttings by long pressing an app icon and tapping the small, circled "i". Scroll down to "storage" and then look at the size of the cache. If it's more than a few Mb, tap on "delete cache". That will clear the cache for that app til the next time it fills up. Each time you use an app, it utilizes the cache.

OMG!! You are brilliant!!!! What a great shortcut with a long press of icon and then the "i." 😮 NOW that will be easy instead of going thru settings and then scrolling thru the apps, etc. I see CHROME is a HUGE culprit!! Wow lol 😂

The settings shortcut was not my discovery, it was pointed out a while back in these forums. It certainly does make it easier to quickly get to an app's settings.
