Screen timeout option 'Never' removed

I have a s24 ultra and am very upset with the company taking away the screen time out of never . Makes it hard to listen to music or watching a movie. Pluse I use it for audio books while I'm at work . Now I only have 10 mins before the screen cuts off and closes my book

You can try a few things.

You can enable the option to keep the screen awake as long as you're looking at it. The option is directly under screen time out settings.

Also in developer options, there is a "Stay Awake" setting that will prevent the screen from sleeping as long as the phone is plugged in.

@Dranger456 I've never had a screen turn off while watching a movie. An app, like Netflix, Peacock, etc, can tell the system not to turn off the screen. If your screen is turning off while watching a movie, I would recommend that you reach out to the developers of that app and have them correct it.

The screen delay only has a 10 min delay now . And even with the face I D you have to be looking directly at the screen . Even while charging the phone it turns off every 10 mins I have looked under each app I use and have activated each possible setting . But to no avail. I will try to find other setting later . Thank you all

The screen doesn't time out during active video playback. Leave screen on has literally never been an option on Samsung phones because of burn in concerns.

It was an option intill the last update. At least on my phone . I have always had a Samsung Galaxy Android phone , and the (Never) option has always been there intill Now .

I believe the 10 minute limit has been there for atleast a few years a53 has it think my s9 also

You can manually set the screen timeout to a longer period under Settings > Display > Screen timeout. While "Never" isn’t available, you can choose up to 30 minutes, which may work better for your needs.

There are just way too many BIG companies who have no real-life clue when it comes too messing with a user's electronics! A TEN MIN TIMEOUT IS USELESS AND EXTREAMLY ANNOYING! - PUT NEVER BACK SO WE ARE NOT FORCED INTO USING SOME DUMB INTRUSIVE APP!

I fully agree, why force users to have screen timeout ? If we want to keep our screens on for hours without looking at it, we should be able to do so...

How does a person keep the phone awake when using Google Maps? Most flusterating trip, no idea where I was going and had to constantly unlock my phone to view map, which by the way did not give me indications of my turns were coming up. GM didn't talk either. Thinking this phone is a waste of money.

This is so annoying!!! I am constantly having to try to keep the screen saver off!! Please fix this or I'm going to get a different phone!!!

It would probably be better to restore the "Never" option if possible. There are legitimate use cases for having the level of control previously afforded us.

Install the Caffeine App. Then you'll have many time out options including "Infinite".

I'm using it on my S24 Ultra. Works great.

Samsung needs to fix this. It makes gaming with a controller and listening to music unplayable, unless it detects your face. Try using Dex on a TV with a controller. It powers off every 10 minutes and reverts the controller to the touchpad. Please fix. This is unbearable.

I was able to leave mine on using 'never'. They just did an update and all of a sudden my phone goes black and I have to put my finger on it again to get back to what I was doing. This is ridiculous. We aren't kids. We are adults and should be able to decide for ourselves. I have always used a Samsung but something is very wrong with their developers. I don't even see Developer Options anymore.

I use mine for directions connected to an android auto device and if my phone turns off the location stops reporting correctly and skips around so every 10 mins i have to illegally operate my phone on a roadway in order to know where I'm going. Not to annoying around town but on long 15hr trips is terible
