I purchased the s24 Ultra last week and when I went home I left the phone alone for a couple of hours and when I went back to open it, it was locked. I never put a screen lock on it. I brought it back to the store and the salesman yelled at me saying I put it on. If you know me, you know that I don't know how to do much with technology.

I can't sign in to Verizon because I need to get into my email and I can't get into my email because it locked too because I was using a new device.

I have a brand new phone that I can't get in and no way to get ahold of Verizon. If I set it back to factory I lose years of photos. I don't know what to do.

You have to factory reset to clear the password the guy at the store should have known that and helped you reset it right there. That is the only way to remove a password. If your photos were transferred from another phone, they should be backed up to Google. Log into photos.google.com on another device and see if they are there. I gather you traded in your old phone and no longer have it. Passwords don't spontaneously create themselves.

Well, do share the default password, then. I cannot believe, and never had, a new phone having a default screen lock without giving a new user a way to unlock it. There is usually a lock/privacy screen, but one only needs to slide up to get to the home screen until they create their own password or pin.

None of mine ever did and if you know a default password share it with the OP. There is no default screen password when you purchase a new device. One had to set it up. The lock screen is on, but there us no associated password. one has to swipe up to open the phone. It makes absolutely no sense to sell a new phone with an unknown password on it.

According to another user here, in case you did not see it, the default password is "Intersection". You can try this before doing a reset, but I am certain you will have to do a reset. No phone in the history of phones has ever come with a pre-set password. It would make no sense, especially if the password is not provided in the startup guide. How is anyone supposed to guess what a default password may be? One is usually asked during setup if one wants to set a security password. Phones have been known to have the lock screen activate even with no security pin/password and all one has to do is swipe up to open the phone. If the phone is requiring a password rather than swiping up, someone in your home may have set a password. If you live alone, I do not have an explanation.

It sounds like when you purchased the phone, your carrier transferred all your stuff over from your old phone. As I stated previously, if you did not trade your old phone in and still have it, you can use it to transfer everything over again after a reset and your personal data will not be lost. If you no longer have the old device, you will have to hope that Google photos has your backup copies.

Yes you are correct, I traded in my old phone and the salesman reset it to factory and removed everything on it. I watched him do it. I will check Google photos to see if they have them. Thank you.

My salesman did not ask me to set up a password and literally yelled at me stating I put a lock screen on it. I am dumb as dirt when it comes to technology and frankly I'm a senior that basically can handle Microsoft Office and some basic phone applications such as the phone and camera settings. He set up the phone for me and didn't give me a start up guide. I only received the receipt and empty boxes of the screen and camera protectors. He knew he had someone that didn't know what I was getting and was predatory in his response. When I talked to the customer service prior to going in she told me specifically "don't trust everything they say and stick to what you want". I looked at the reviews and it has years of people saying they had problems with this location's salespeople and the same old response from the owner.

Thank you for your response.
