topic Horrendous base s24 battery in Galaxy S24

I've been using galaxy s series phone for a long time. I switched from the base s23 to the base s24. I received my phone six days ago and noticed the incredibly bad battery and have been afraid to use it because of that reason. Today is the first day of real use and I'm stunned how bad this battery is. I have 7 days to return it and would like to know if there will be a fix. All the apps, including the purple icon openphone, and settings are exactly like my s23 and that battery is so much better. I would probably be about 30% higher now. I've attached screenshots. I'm not looking to disable this or that or remove any apps since my s23 performs just fine with the same settings and apps.

Also do have the same issue as others with the washed out colors.

Thanks for any help

Always On Display drains nearly 2% of battery per hour on my S24 Ultra. This is much higher than the S23 Ultra. Hopefully this will be fixed in an update?

Remember the full screen AOD lights more pixels then the older AOD. If you want to return to the lower power AOD, you can do so by going to
Settings > Lock screen > Always On Display > then setting the style (settings navigation attached, but can't show style options since my phone doesn't have it).

Hope this helps 🙂

Yeah my battery drains pretty quickly too. I noticed this the first day I had it I went out somewhere that didn't have the best signal. I was there for 6 hours and by the time I got home my phone was 20%. If I am home and on Wi-Fi though the battery is of course great.

I've barely used my phone today, yet it felt kinda warm in my pocket earlier this morning. 🤨 Just took it out and it's at 60% battery, which is weird. 🤔 I do have the highest resolution and 120Hz refresh rate turned on, and my S22 Ultra had better battery life with the same settings. I don't use adaptive brightness, so it stays pretty low all the time. I also have auto AoD active, so the display shouldn't even be on while it's in my pocket.

Side note I **bleep**in love the AI writing styles 🥵

A struggling solid network connection anything that's considered a weak signal (ex. -117 dbm Mobile Network strength) results in significantly more draining on battery on mine but it's to b expected considering it's trying to get u a better signal essentially the whole time cuz it's so weak is all & the only way around that would b to not use a connection aka Data off of Airplane Mode until ur in a better coverage area that is not considered a weak signal. My ex is only what my device was approx in so the range to which a device considers a weak signal would b more appropriate in this answer just cuz it's a range not a specific number if u will. I just don't know what weak is as far as the full range. But i imagine the entire range u would wanna avoid when trying to save ur battery from draining excessively.

Also, be sure ur battery Power Save Settings are setup the way u want them to b if u choose to use this feature when it depleats to a specific percentage then turns on to save battery until its above ur designated percentage & so forth. I assume ur aware of this setting already tho. If u need help with it tho holler.

This is all assuming something else like another app etc isn't actually causing the problem on& that u ruled this cause put already k.

A comment on the RAM usage. RAM usage should not be thought of in the same way as Storage usage. Unused RAM is a waste of resources and money. You want your apps to use RAM so that they react quickly with little delay. The only time RAM usage becomes a problem is when you have an app which wants more than what is currently free.

The sweet spot for RAM usage is anything below 80%. Looks like you are running at 6-8 GB of usage. For your device, anything below ~9.6 GB is fine and is not an issue.

Similar issues here switching from S23 to S24. Freezing during use with certain apps e.g. Ring doorbell video scrolling. Also filming with video led to sudden closure of function on a random basis. Playback on some videos taken with the device gives sound only and no moving picture. Battery does not seem to hold as much as expected. This too persisted after both safe mode and factory reset. My personal view is that it feels like device shipped before adequately road tested.

V disappointed as all the switching from old to new phone sucks up time and energy.

Yes! Your last comment was exactly what I mentioned to my partner too. It's not like a plug-and-play device.. there's always a lot of time put into it to set it back up and now I have to do it all over again 😞

I haven't had any issues with our Nest/Google Home cam, nor the normal Nest app; I didn't have the issue during film either, but then again I was on a mild setting of 1:1 @ 30fps....

Ughhh, I want to love and use the phone, but these issues are crippling. I'm hoping that by 2/1-2/2 there will be a massive update once the masses get their devices and also report all these problems.

Understood, however when I looked up what would cause the phone to constantly shut down and reboot, and running out of RAM was one of the issues, it's hard not to believe that it's not correlation but rather causation.
