Google messages has no trash, so if one deletes messages, they cannot be retrieved unless a backup has been made. This is why both Samsung and Google protect us from ourselves by having backup on automatically. I don't understand why people turn it off. If something is important, you should be backing it up by some means. If one does not want to use either Samsung or Google backup for whatever reason, there are myriad programs in the Play store that will automatically or manually backup for you. SMS backup and restore and an excellent program for this. With no backup resource active, what is your friend going to do if they have a total device failure and lose everything?
