One ui 8 Secure folder bug

After upgrading to one UI 8 when I try to share files from inside discord inside the secure folder it no longer shows secure folder storage it only shows regular storage. As a result you can't share anything that is stored inside secure folder inside secure folder apps.

Think i saw simular issue or same maybe do search at top you might find it that way see if that helps

No. Searching in recents just shows regular internal storage media.

Before you could access secure folder variant of gallery, my files, etc.

Now it has completely gone and only allows you to share regular storage items within the secure folder

As you can see, the side panel doesn't show the secure version of the apps, nor does recents show anything. My suspicion is that some permission scope has been bugged out after the OS update. I tried clearing cache and resetting permissions too.

Gotcha thinking check the galaxy store in had few that needed update after getting ui8 not sure i recall seeing secure folder maybe did on its own also thinking clear cache

Yeah very interesting issue, but this is completely making discord within secure folder unusable when media has to be shared.

For the time being the only solution I found was to go to my files manually, select the media there and share through discord. A bit tedious but a workaround would help a lot and restore the fluidity that was there before.

I have the same issue e.g. when trying to choose a picture to upload on a website. I encountered this with Firefox and Vivaldi. Everytime I click on any upload button on a web page, the only choice I get is "Pictures" and choosing this, I only see the "normal" files.

Now I installed the Samsung Internet browser and here I get the choice between "Camera", "Files" and "Pictures". Choosing pictures, I still see only the normal files again, but when I choose "Files", I see the Secure Folder files and can browse the whole file structure.

Hi! Me too! I can confirm this issue too in WhatsApp when opening the "Share File" option in a chat, which is distinct from "Share Photo/Video". This happens on my S25+ after updating to One UI 8, and on my S25 Ultra too.

Needless to say, this, to me, is frustrating. I have to use Secure Folder for my work, which involves managing private credentials and the sensitive data of my clients; this completely disrupts my workflow when using KeePass, as an example 😮‍💨😞

Hi! Just to add: Obsidian has the same problem, this Secure Folder bug virtually making it unusable when setting it up inside with the "Device Storage" option which allows its files to be read by other apps.

This is frustrating.

I've got the same issue across multiple apps in secure folder. The file picker seems to be broken and only has access to files *outside* the secure folder.

I have the same issue when trying to open a database on sync.com from within Keepass, both installed only in Secure Folder. The sync folder does not show up (since the app is installed only in Secure Folder) and only the files on the device outside the Secure Folder show up in System File Picker. I was trying to figure out what was going on and am glad that the search led me to this page.

Similar issue was reported in anther post and Samsung's reply is not at all reassuring. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Samsung just pulled the One UI 8 update for S23 series for unstated reasons. Wish I had waited before updating. Hope this mess gets fixed in the next release.
