hotspot no longer working after UI 8 update

I can enable the hotspot on my S25+ but it won't allow the PC to reach the internet. This started after the UI 8 update. I've done it all, restart phone, PC, turn off VPN, made sure my phone carrier allows hotspot tethering, etc. It's UI 8 that is the issue.

Please contact your carrier. They are responsible for providing you with this service and testing updates on their network before pushing them out to their customers. They may have a solution for you already or they may need to contact Samsung for a patch.

Same here...my S24 ultra and S23 Ultra. Hotspot on neither phone working after UI 8 update last night. USB tether does not work either. Devices can connect but no internet.

Sounds like a carrier issue, as the carrier controls the Hotspot connection.

It wasn't and because my phone was an unlocked model, the carrier didn't have anything to do with the update. They referred me to Samsung.

Same problem here. It has to be the UI8 update. What a huge waste of time! I've tried all the usual stuff to no avail. restarting, resetting network settings, developer mode <> smart fix of drivers. No luck so far. Customer service claimed I'm the only one reporting this on the phone and online I just get some sycophant AI agent. No help in sight.

Problem: After the Samsung S24 One UI 8 update, the mobile hotspot stopped working.

Cause: The update removed “dun” from the APN type, which is required for tethering.

Fix:

Option A – Edit existing APN if editable
Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
Open your active APN
Add “,dun” to the end of the APN type field
Save and restart your phone

Option B – Copy and create a new APN if fields are locked
Go to Settings Connections Mobile networks Access Point Names
Tap “+” to add a new APN
Copy all details from your current APN
Enter default,supl,mms,dun in the APN type field
Save, select the new APN, and restart your phone

Hotspot should now work on the Samsung S24.

Go to APN settings edit and add "dun" to APN types. Save and restart the phone. This is what worked for me. Hotspot and tethering are working now.

Yup, this seems to be what happened to both my phones. I just created a duplicate APN with 'dun' added to the APN types.
