Gallery photos not displaying

My Gallery stopped displaying all of my photos. They are backed up in Google, but not in Gallery. I've tried all previous fixes listed on forum.

Did you use the "Free up space on device" feature, by chance? Doing so deletes photos from your device and stores them solely in Google Photos.

I honestly am not sure. However, even pictures from last night are not displaying

This is a common Samsung Gallery sync/indexing bug, especially after updates or storage permission glitches. Since your photos still exist in Google Photos, they’re likely still on-device but hidden or not indexed.
Try these working fixes (in order):
1) Check Gallery filters
Open Gallery → ⋮ → Filter or Customize
Enable All / Images / Videos
Turn off Hide albums and Trash only
2) Force media re-index (most effective)
Install File Manager+ or CX File Explorer
Create a folder named:
DCIM/test
Move 2–3 photos into it
Reboot phone
Move them back
This forces Android to rescan all media.
3) Reset Gallery app Settings → Apps → Gallery → Storage
Clear Cache
Clear Data (does NOT delete photos)
4) Check storage permissions Settings → Apps → Gallery → Permissions
Allow Photos & videos
Allow Files / Storage
5) Check .nomedia bug Using a file manager:
Search for .nomedia
Delete any found inside DCIM / Pictures
6) One UI bug fix Settings → Apps → Gallery → Battery
Set to Unrestricted
