It’s March 5th, and the February 5th patch finally landed on my S24 Ultra (T‑Mobile unlocked). As I get ready to install it, I’m realizing this update marks the end of something I’ve relied on for years: wiping the cache partition.

WCP was always the fix that worked. Whenever performance dipped or battery drain showed up, that was the go‑to recommendation across the forums — and for good reason. Through OS upgrades, monthly patches, and plenty of beta releases, my device stayed consistently stable while others ran into issues. I’ve always credited that reliability to the WCP ritual.

After digging into how the S24 series is architected, I’m more confident about this change. The newer virtual A/B and dynamic partition system doesn’t use the old dedicated cache block anymore, and the phone now handles cache regeneration automatically after updates. The S24 Ultra is already built for a world without manual cache wipes.

With WCP gone, Samsung’s supported optimization path shifts to software tools rather than recovery‑level maintenance. Device Care now handles system‑level cleanup and performance tuning. Good Guardians, the Samsung App Suite, and App Booster take care of app‑level optimization, compilation, and background behavior. These tools together replace what WCP used to offer and keep the phone running smoothly.

Curious how others are feeling about this transition and whether anyone has noticed changes in performance or battery life after the switch?

Yes, it was removed with the February security patch. This is in line with other Android OEMs. Seamless updates with A/B partitions make manually clearing the cache partition moot.

Sure. Ok. I reboot mine I'm the middle of the night on a schedule. I also delete cache partition weekly to help keep things running smoothly. Guess I'll just have to live with the bugginess like in the beginning before I started this regimen.

They really should just help it as an optional thing. I have to do it to the watches all the time as well and thankfully they still have it.
