Samsung actually releases the updates to the carriers, who then tinker with it and deploy it to their customers on their own rollout schedule. OneUI 8.5 is not ready for final release, even to the carriers, yet. Of course Samsung is going to concentrate on their latest device, they ship the latest devices with the newest OneUI/OS - that does not mean that the release is ready for the rest of their models. What you believe the way things should be and what the reality is are obviously different things. Bottom line is that Samsung is the developer of the UI, and they can test or delay it for as long as they want, and they can also decide on which devices to beta test the software. If you are unhappy with the way development progresses, you have many other options out there. You choose Samsung for a reason. If you just want any old phone, go buy one of the many brands out there.

When is the betas gonna stop and finally a stable version of 8.5 for the s25 ultra gonna be implemented?!? Jesus. I saw a 9th beta on the test server. 9 betas? Even 8.0 had half that! I think Samsung is just stalling at this point, or y'all need to hire better developers. It's like you're developing product for a device you didn't create. Lmao

Betas will stop when they correct all the errors and add-ons given in feedback from the testers. Or, do you want an unstable version so that you can come here and complain about all the errors? Because of the longer update cycle on newer phones, hey have opened the betas to more models and they have to be sure that the update will work on all the models that are still eligible for the updates.

It's not unheard of for Samsung's beta programs to last 4-6 months.

As to your point about "developing for a device they created," Samsung's development process is quite literally modifying an operating system they didn't create (Android, made by Google. Not Samsung) and optimizing it for each product in their massive lineup.

Learn more about the relationship between Samsung and Google here: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Samsung-Apps-and-Services/Why-is-there-so-much-Google-in-my-Samsung/td-p/3464924?src=ShareByUserCM

Beyond the reality of their development process, this approach of taking their time and not being tied to strict release timelines is the reason One UI is currently more stable than iOS.

And to those who defend the beta process, it's supposed to be used to "refine" an OS, bug fixes, etc. But it seems it's just dragging on. I posted an article from Sammy fans. It says exactly what I was trying to mean. Everyone who has the beta, sure, good for you all, but due to limitations, not every can pay for an unlocked device out right and have carrier locked devices. Which majority of carriers don't participate in Android beta releases. Seems like iPhone has the development side figured out a bit better. They can release a beta to various devices at once, as well as a stable version to various devices at once (within reason of course.) if the device is 4 generations back, ok sure, you probably won't get the good good. But a device that was just released last year? Come on guys. But the article says it better than I can put into words.

That's a farce because Samsung doesn't release stable to mass devices. They release stable to subsets (first 25, then 24, and so on). Those other devices are just now getting betas. But it seems Samsung has been giving its attention to the 26 series, even though the 25 is barely a year old....:( And knowing these devices SO WELL, they created them, they developed the software, it shouldn't be a stretch to think yes betas are needed, but to what extent? Usually after most internal testing, it shouldn't be too hard to work out the bugs on specific carriers. Considering I believe the 25 series only had 2 chipset versions, the snapdragon and the exynos depending on US or international, right? I don't know, something just doesn't add up.
