My phone over the past couple of days has started running hot towards the top next to the cameras. Happens almost immediately with light tasks like messaging. None of my apps show high battery usage. Any ideas?

It happened to me, but I took about 550 pictures. The refining took about 40 minutes, so it heats up for an hour.
But for normal tasks, it shouldn't.

@NiNi22 if not already installed, go to the Galaxy Store and download the "Good Guardians" app. Open it, then install the "Thermal Guardian" and also both battery plugins. I would also highly suggest getting the "Galaxy App Booster" too and run that. Anyway, open the Thermal Guardian and the graphs will show them and what app is being the most CPU intensive.Battery Tracker will check the highest using apps. Also open the Device Care app and if prompted near the top frame to optimize the device, do that. While there, click on "Battery", then battery background limits.Turn on "Put unused apps to sleep", click the vertical three dots at the top right, click Adaptive battery, then it toggle on.

Thanks! I did that plus updated my phone. It had just updated 04/01 but there was a new one. I also took my case off and let it charge without using it. So far today, no issues.

Hi @NiNi22 thanks for reaching out to the Samsung Community. I'm thrilled to see that you're currently not having the overheating issue anymore. While I do agree with @Tom6068, I did want to add if this issue comes up again that you can run diagnostics yourself through the settings of your phone, Settings > Battery and device care > Diagnostics, or in the Members App under Support> Diagnostics.

I'm also going to post a link with some tips on how to keep your device at a normal operating temperature:

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10002887/

If your phone continues to get hot, a repair would be recommended in order to have the technicians evaluate the device. You can use the following link to find a list of service centers in the U.S. that can do the repair: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/ or by contacting customer support at 1-800-726-7864.

For service outside the U.S., please use this link: https://www.samsung.com/us/common/visitlocationsite.html
