Gatekeeping 24mp setting!

It appears that Samsung has currently restricted the 24-megapixel setting in the camera assistant to the S26 series. This does not seem to be a hardware limitation, as the setting is accessible within the Expert RAW application.

I hope that once UI 8.5 is released for other devices, Samsung will extend this setting to all devices that do not have hardware limitations in the camera assistant.

Zero technical reason to do so. If they do, it will only prove the deliberate gatekeeping of features that other devices should also be able to enjoy.

Unfortunately I don't have access to Expert RAW on my S25 FE. Guess I'll wait for the S27 Ultra.

It will not be available on the S25U and other features also not included. What is already on the beta 10 is what will be on the final release come starting tomorrow when carriers begin rolling it out. It could days later than that. Perhaps S25 users will see them in the UI 9.0 as backports.

I was wondering about the 24-mexapixel setting. Kept reading about it on different posts,but never could find it on the camera assistant app. At least I know I am only partially nuts.

While I can comprehend the rationale behind limiting features such as Horizontal Lock and new codecs in the native camera application to the S26 series until the release of UI9, given their inherent complexity, providing a 24MP toggle within an application, particularly when it is already available in Expert RAW, is a significantly less intricate undertaking. This practice of restricting features effectively renders a year-old device obsolete, which is an unfavorable business strategy.

I recall your previous advocacy for the inclusion of this specific feature during the Beta phase. Your current defense of Samsung's decision to restrict this to the S26 series is perplexing.
