What is the purpose of the clicker on the S Pen?

What's the point of the clicker on the S25 ultra? It literally does nothing.. The SPen had the slot for the battery, and the phone it self has the SPen charger, did Samsung really tried to save 15 cents on a battery? Per unit?! I don't care about Qi2 support or magsafe... The remote control future in our SPen was way more important.. I still got 5 days to return this phone.. Definitely thinking about it now.. 🙃

It's not a clicker and it's purpose seems obvious to me. Pushed in it's flush. Popped out, it then allows you to get a hold of the pen with a finger nail under the exposed gap and pull the pen out.

I'm sure that Samsung determined that the majority of us don't use the pen and that even fewer users utilize the air gesture features.

I agree I was very bummed that they took away the Bluetooth functionality with the S Pen. I've had every Note series, s22 Ultra s23 Ultra and now I have the s25 Ultra.
I was hesitant to buy the S25 Ultra for the fact of not having the Bluetooth.
But now that I have it I love it and I'm just going to get one of those little shutter fobs and just put it on my keys.
There are two functions that I know why they're still has the button on the side. One is for when you're writing something on your notes you pushing that button to erase. And the other is you push the button and tap twice on your screen it will pop up your notes I'm sure there's other things for it. I agree I don't need the Q2 support or magsafe. Maybe with everybody being so upset maybe they'll bring it back next year in the s26 ultra. I have heard rumors that maybe they'll get rid of the S Pen all together next year. So I'm glad that I bought the s25 ultra this year if that's the case. Good luck with your decision on whether you're going to keep it or not but I have found so many great differences for my s23 Ultra vs this s25 Ultra I'm very happy with my decision. 😊

Ah! Best guess is that there is a pair pins inside the phone that slide up when you insert the pen, then lowers on one side into the 'clicker' to hold the pen in place and which tells the phone that the pen is securely installed. When both pins are up or down it tells the phone that the pen is in use and to open the S Pen quick menu. You can feel the pin pop up and down as you pull the S Pen in and out of the secure position.

Well, I had the S24 Ultra. Was not happy with the camera. I like the Camera on this phone.. But It's not better than my friends iPhone 16 Max... I've been with Samsung since day 1... And for a reason! Now, it's not much different than Apple.. In reality, Nova Launcher is what's keeping me from switching to iOS more than Samsung is 😂. If they keep removing more things.. Like what's the point to go Samsung? Samsung it's supposed to have more things... Not the same thing.
