Can't use Samsung TTS

Hi there!

I' coming from a S24 Ultra and I have used a custom backup. After setting up everything in my new S25 Ultra, I notice that it always use Google TTS instead Samsung TTS despite I have selected the Samsung TTS. For example, in a macro from Macrodroid app.

I've tried to uninstall all Samsung downloaded voices and reseting the Accesibility settings but it doesn't work.

Any suggestion before to try reset everything? 😒

I have exactly the same problem. My device always use Google TTS. When I disable it, it says that TTS couldn't be started. The previous of Samsung TTS works fine, but none app could use it. I hope the next firmware update will fix it.

I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one but we aren't many because I have only heard few cases with this same problem. I get the feeling that Samsung has released OneUI 7 still in beta state.

I have been chatting with a Samsung rep for over an hour, let them look at my device and everything. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and my issue is right after updating to OneUI 7.0, the official build, not the beta, while I can download Samsung voices, they only appear at the system level, as in Accessibility > Talkback > Settings > Text-To-Speech, you can download and set new voices here and they work here in this test area, but in any 3rd party apps, I can no longer find any of the Downloaded voices, that the app itself let's you open the same download window to download these voices, to use. I really liked the United States English Voice 4, and now I can't use it at all. I have had a few chances to move to a Pixel for over half the cost, but I stayed with Samsung literally for this voice.

Edit: I have been able to listen to the voices that are marked as Samsung in the third party reader apps to discover every single Samsung voice listed is only a copy of the Google voices. The number of voices for each and the sound of each voice sounds the same between the two. So this means that third party apps cannot properly see the Samsung text to speech engine at all.

I have this issue in both my S22 Ultra after the UI7 updated and also in my new S25 Ultra. No way to fix. None of the apps see yhe samsung tts and the Google tts settings are hidden and have horrible voices.

I have the same issue: UI7.0 has breaken 3rd party app use of Samsung text to speech and I'm stuck with Google speech synthesis

Just got forced onto One UI 7 and I use TTS on my apps and now it's googles I completely disabled googles and it still won't use samsungs TTS if anyone's got a solution let me know

So I have found out an answer to the question not a solution but a reason on why samsung tts no longer works in other apps

Samsung in the One UI 7 update changed their policy and their TTS is only available on Samsung apps all other apps are no longer allowed to use their tts program

So it's a feature, not a bug. Does anybody know a good third party tts app with a better voice than the ones from Google or a way to use the Gemini voices for tts?

The main thing would be ultimately not to use Samsung devices anymore speak with your wallet, that's what I'm thinking of doing especially since this is a "policy" not a bug. I've said this already, before this "policy", I was looking to upgrade to the s25 or s26 Ultra. Not anymore. I think iPhones have some good offline voices I might be going there. I seriously only kept a Samsung device for the past 6-8 years was for their text to speech engine.

I found some good tts engines on fdroid which is a free app repository I'm going to look there for a while

This new update just made my phone feel like an iPhone might try getting a red magic or asus rog phone at this point

I second this. This has ruined my morning. Ive had poor luck finding a replacement. I will not be buying another samsung if this continues, the tts was literally the only reason I did

for me samsung died with that stupid decision. i used their tts in book reader and its so much better than any voices. for now its no point for me to live with other problems on my s23ultra without able to use this TTS. ill swap to any other anrdoid, because TTS was sell point for me

Wow, that's not a great update. Samsung TTS should be available on my phone everywhere, not at a specific service
