I now have a similar situation. I had the Galaxy S8 until the screen became to pixelate a few weeks ago. I was able to download the Smart Switch app onto it, but I was not able to even open the app before the entire screen became a colorfully pixelated mess. I have since gotten the Galaxy S26 and I am currently looking for a way to recover my text history. Any solution to this yet? Were you able to recover your text history? If so, how did you do it?

Hello Members_5o3bL5E,
Welcome to Samsung Community. Transferring your data from one device to another is one of the most important parts of getting a new device. Having difficulty doing that can be quite frustrating. I understand that due to your old device's pixelation, it is making Samsung Smart switch a non-viable option for you. There are; however, other options available. You can try transfer using a data cable, transfer using google as well as transfer using external storage.
(The types of data that can be transferred using Smart Switch or Google Drive may vary depending on your device and the transfer method selected.) Please follow this link https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10001345/ to get more information and instruction on the smart switch alternatives. Let me know if you need further assistance.

There are; however, other options available." The provided link does work now, however, there are only 4 options on the page and every single one of them requires that I launch Smart Switch. My problem is that due to the pixelation of the screen, I cannot even navigate to it. Even after a restart by holding down the power and volume down buttons, it starts with a partial visualization of the screen and the Samsung logo, but after just a few seconds, it reverts back to the entire screen being pixelated.

I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused you. I would like to inform you that the only way to get your information would be through SmartSwitch and you would have to get your old device serviced otherwise there is no other way to get your old texts. I hope this helps. and again thank you for reaching out!
