If the port is clean and cables still fall out, a local repair shop can replace the USB-C port for a fraction of the cost of a new phone. Because the S22 Ultra is still an incredibly powerful device, this is a highly cost-effective repair.

You also have the option to utilize a wireless charger.

I got through this all the time as a construction worker. Gunk gets into charging port, makes charger not seat correctly but will still charge, any bump or movement of phone will cause charger to fall out unless I take a thin toothpick or something like that to clean the port then its like new again.

I would deal with it tbh. If having to pay attention to like charging it because of that issue, it may be a small inconvenience over getting a $1300 S26U, or paying to have the port replaced. Also, I would wait until next year to see wait the S27U offers. I really think the pressure is now on Samsung to seriously upgrade the display to an actual 10bit version and have a far better camera system. Btw, I still have my S22U and it works a treat plus the S22s still get the UI 8.5 later this month or in June and security updates through February of next year.

You can clean the charging port (gently) then buy port plugs to keep pocket lint and dirt from getting in the port. You can live with the loose cable (doesn't the S22 have wireless charging?). You don't need to buy a new phone unless you *want* a new phone and are looking for the excuse to buy one and you don't believe in replacing a perfectly functioning device with a new one. As was mentioned, it is much cheaper to have the port replaced than to buy a new phone (any model). I'm sure you can walk into a service center and get an estimate. Another factor to consider would be how many update cycles you have left for that phone (two more, maybe?) Me, personally, I'd hold out til I needed to upgrade or there was a really good sale or deal on the new model - maybe right before they come out with the S27.

That list literally mentions M33 which went end of life just a few weeks ago. It also mentions A73 and S21 FE which CAN NOT be updated to 8.5 because they have Linux kernel 5.4. The list is not reliable. Sammobile has a whole hasn't been reliable for a few years

Then I stand corrected as there is no official Samsung announcement to it getting the 8.5 and it's not obligated to as it provided it's then previous stated 4 major OS upgrades at the time of the S22 line's release.

So for Galaxy S line of phones, it is only for the S23 models onwards.

S21 FE can not be updated to 8.5 even if Samsung wanted to because it has Linux kernel 5.4 while Android 16 QPR2 requires at least Linux kernel 5.10

For example, the S22 line will not get the 8.5 update as I noted I was incorrect on that assumption, yet it runs on the 5.10 kernel. It is a corporate decision, not a hard limitation.

Here is the release matrix right here and it clearly shows it support Android 16 (scroll down to the compatibility matrix chart).

https://source.android.com/docs/core/architecture/kernel/android-common
