Ohh now THAT! Is interesting indeed! Eye strain, and causing fatigue! Yea that sucks!!Bad!! I wonder if Samsung thought that idea all the way through with the privacy built in screen features. I honestly have given up on keeping the newest phones. Just watches and headphones, maybe!! That is something, I'm sorry you guys are dealing with that.

The screen on the Galaxy S26 Ultra strains the eyes far too much — it’s something extreme. I don’t know what was done with the display pixels, but it causes significant eye fatigue. The screen quality is very poor, and the eyes even start to feel blurry from how much it strains them. Are you going to fix this? Many users are complaining about the same issue. I hope this is not a hardware problem, because if it is, it won’t be possible to fix it.

S26 Ultra display - Eye strain concern due to wide and narrow pixels

I can understand why there are so many reports online about eye strain or fatigue when viewing S26 Ultra's display. After receiving my unit today I almost momentarily noticed that oily / shimmering type of effect around white / blue letters (privacy display OFF, QHD+ resolution). It's more pronounced on dark mode. Very uncomfortable feeling after S25 Ultra. Will be returning S26U. Privacy display is a gimmick. They ruined an experience for lots of people who don't need that feature and there is no return since wide / narrow pixels is a hardware change.

If so, then the sub-pixel array on the S26U may have that effect in that some people have variable eye sensitivities and that was manifested with the S26U screen model. In the end the user has to decide what is acceptable from the visual side effects.

I do not have the S26U, but I spent a good 10mins holding ones ide by side with my S25U to check on the web doom-posting regarding the S26U. And tbh, just looking at it in angles, similar backgrounds, different resolution settings etc, I could not perceive any real differences in screen resolution quality. The biggest differences were when I used the privacy display, the S26U did make the fonts look fuzzy and reduced the resolution, but that will happen when half of the pixels are turned off. Also, the anti-reflective value of the S25U is still objectively better than that on the 26U.

Do what is best for what is needed and how that works overall.

And don't be surprised that the tech, while really cool, could be physically changed possibly next year. To ameliorate the issues as they occur now with the two sub-pixel system (one wide, one narrow). Samsung could easily use a three tier system using the same screen space by using 1/3 of each sub-pixel type as wide, middle and narrow. This would reduce gaps of crossover of light emission form each pixel between the current two, by making the more combine reducing the gap (aka the delta). Software can then be made to change the light intensity based on more settings. It also could make the screen more energy efficient. Gotta keep ahead for next year's big tech advancement!

It cannot be fixed. Because half of the pixels are circular, the pixel grid is uneven and detectable/irritating to some people and not an issue to others. If it irritates you, it is doing so on a hardware level and there is no way for software to fix this.

Its not entirely dissimilar to the old Pentile displays from the mid 2010s.
