Battery percentage in the battery icon no longer hidable

Thank you, Samsung, for messing me over on the display of the battery percentage.

Because of a change to my Galaxy S24+ with the OneUI 8 update, I previously complained about not being able to see the battery level when I pull down the notification shade when the percentage is hidden in the status bar icon. And instead of changing it to what it should be, Samsung chose to do the opposite of what it needs.

As far as I know, I was the only one who ever complained about it.

The only one that complained, not even close. There were 100's of posts here.

I like just the number, but it should be a choice, both, just number or just the ugly pill.

In 8.5 you only have 2 choices now, percentage or both. I like it just fine with the number.

Yeah, that's how it was before the OneUI 8.5 update.

But, hiding the percentage also hid the percentage when the notification shade was pulled down. I don't want to see the percentage in the status bar, but do want to know what the battery level is when pulling down the notification shade.

Samsung has chosen to make the battery percentage ALWAYS visible in One UI 8.5.

hm...for all i could remember you could only choose one or the other, but that's just me though since i always had battery percentage turned on lol.

I'm just used to how all other Android brands do it. You can opt to hide the percentage from being displayed in the battery icon in the status bar, but see it when you pull the notification shade down.

oh i get what you mean, unfortunately i don't think that's ever been a thing for Samsung phones. 🤔
