Opinion on Samsung 26 messaging

I recently purchased the new Samsung s26, but i am disappointed that for messaging i have to use my google account, Samsung does not provide an messaging app anymore, so every time I customize my phone with a new theme, messages stays the same, that is really disappointing hopefully, Samsung brings back that option, have messages without ads.

I'm confused. I use Google Messages and there are no ads.

Also, when I used Samsung Messages changing the phone theme did change the colors in Samsung Messages, so I don't know what you're talking about here either. The only difference that Samsung Messages had over Google Messages is that you could customize the chat background and it is my understanding that ability is coming to Google Messages in the future.

I noticed this while setting up my S26 Ultra so I downloaded the APK for Samsung Messages from APKMirror Version 15.7.04.3 which was the last update I had on my S25 Ultra

Because the only default message app i have is link to google account and i have tried to search for Samsung messages but it no longer has it!

It is my understanding that Samsung Messages is no longer being updated and is being phased out, and therefore, is not available for newer phone models.

You you don't like Google Messages, then try the messaging app opinions available in the Play Store.

The problem with Samsung Messages is that it is only RCS conpatable if your carrier allows it and Samsung Messages can't integrate with the iPhones RCS system if they don't. Google Messages is 100% RCS capable regardless of carrier. Thus the switch. Samsung Messages is a casualty of the Blue Bubble/Green Bubble War.

I wouldn't put money on it. Samsung can't force carriers to adopt RCS, so nothing will change. The only reason that Apple adopted RCS was the result of a class action lawsuit. It wasn't out of the kindness of their heart.

So add that to the list. No more Samsung cloud service. No more 3.5 audio jack. No SD cards. No removable batteries. And the list goes on.

I'm currently using Samsung Messages on my S26 Ultra. If you Google, there's a Reddit post that has the link to download. Once you download, you will have to grant Samsung messages restricted access to allow it to be the default messaging app...

It's how they make money on their 'free to use' aps. Most have a pay system to remove the ads. So you can try it out for free at first, then purchase the app, if you like it, and remove the ads. Sometimes the purchase unlocks additional features. It's called a free market system and is common on the Apple market space as well.
