While I wouldn't expect the SD card slot to ever make a comeback, you don't have to play for cloud storage. You can still use external drives. This is the one I used most recently when upgrading from my previous device.

https://a.co/d/iqDc3Vd

These kinds of drives are comparable in price to SD cards and serve to free up space on your device's internal storage.

Also, Samsung has a long history of offering free storage upgrades as promotional offers. Keep an eye out for those promotions when you consider your next upgrade. My current device is a 512GB and I paid the same price as the base model.

I currently have an S10+ with 1TB and 12G RAM with an SD card slot and a number of other features no longer offered. I want to ask if you could allow these phones to be upgraded beyond Android 12. Hands down, this is the best phone you have produced ... I would gladly buy another phone if you built one as good. Also, give the camera updates a break ... bring back the stuff we actually care about. Seems like all you focus on is camera updates?? We don't care. You made your phones just like everyone else.

As a long-time Galaxy enthusiast, I’m writing to urge the product team to reconsider the microSD card slot for the upcoming S27 Ultra. While internal storage is fast, many power users still face bottlenecks that only expandable storage can solve:

4K/8K Video Workflow: Recording high-bitrate video fills internal storage instantly. A physical card allows for "hot-swapping" storage during long shoots without needing a PC or a slow cloud upload.

Data Privacy & Offline Access: Cloud storage isn't a viable solution in "dead zones" or for users who handle sensitive data and prefer keeping their files off third-party servers.

Cost-to-Capacity Ratio: Professional-grade microSD cards are significantly more affordable than the price jump between 512GB and 1TB internal models.

Device Longevity: Being able to move a 1TB library of music and photos instantly to a new device via a card is still the fastest "data transfer" method available.

The Ultra series is marketed as the ultimate "Pro" tool. Bringing back the SD slot would truly set the S27 Ultra apart from competitors who force users into expensive cloud subscriptions.

Come on man. 512GB ... you didn't read my post ... that is nothing. Carry around an external device? Missing the point ...

The purpose of external drives is not to carry them around. The purpose is to offload files from your device's internal storage.

Needing to physically swap 1TB of data via SD card (or even maintain 1TB of active storage) is an extremely niche use case that does not pertain to 99% of users.

At any rate, I would not anticipate that SD cards will ever return to Galaxy Ultra phones as the industry at large moved away from them years ago. It is just about as likely that diskette drives will return to PCs.

That was the point of the post ... you are correct ... the industry has moved away from SD cards ... and that's what used to set Samsung phones apart ... because we had those nice extra features that other phones didn't. Instead everybody focuses on camera updates which most people can't tell the difference year to year on 99.9% of the pictures they take. To me, to have a device, that they have shown in the past in the S10 Plus, you can make a really powerful device ... instead they've dumbed it down to an overpriced camera. You can't seriously tell me that phones have not gone backwards since that phone. Sure you can say processors got faster and all that ... but in reality for pure capability and features of the phone, that phone could do more than today's phones ... and that is sad and makes no sense.
