Double Charging Sounds

There appears to be a bug in OneUi 8.5 where there is a notification sound hard coded into system UI app and you can't turn it off. It's the brightline sound. In Settings > Sound and Vibration > System Sound, there is a sound theme setting and a toggle for charging. If you toggle it on you get two different simultaneous charging notification sounds. There is no way to turn off the system UI charging notification sound without turning sound off for the entire system UI app. I'm surprised many didn't notice that their charging sound changed and they can here two different sounds or can't turn the sound off.

Your phone has the ability to change the sound. Maybe you should try changing the tone and the tone can be stopped...you just have to find the feature.

Certain system sounds can't be changed. The charging sound is one of them. You can only switch betwen 5 system themes.

In sounds an vibration settings, you should be able to turn off the charging sound by tapping system sounds. You can also change the system theme sound, unless they removed that ability in the S26. If the abilty to turn the charging sound off still exists, either turn it off or toggle it off and on and see if it stops the double sound.

Yes. That turns on and off the charging sound based on the theme you select above. It worked fine in my S23 Ultra with One UI 8.0. This S26 Ultra with OneUI 8.5, the enabled a separate unconfigurable charging sound in the System UI app. You have to go to settings > apps > click the list filter > toggle system apps > search for system UI and open > notifications > sounds and vibration = off. Only that removed the charging sound but also all system UI app notification sounds which is a deal breaker for me.

You sound like you don't have an s26 with oneui 8.5? As otherwise even with the charging sound toggle off you will still hear the Samsung brand sound for all system notifications including charging

The sound is called 'brightline' in the list of notification sound choices.

I do not have the S26. That's why I don't know what settings they added or took away. A double sound does sound like an error and next time it happens, you should put in an error report. Since I haven't seen any other posts about this, it could possibly be only affecting your device due to some conflict.

The charging sound can be turned off. It's a toggle on the system sounds screen right below where you select a theme. Problem is you still here the Samsung brightline sound when you start charging coming from the System UI app.

This is a wild goose chase IMHO. The sound that comes from the charging notification when you start charging the phone has nothing to do with any of those settings. This has to be a joke.

Have you checked that something else is not interfering by restarting your phone in safe mode and then plugging in the charger to see if the extra sound still happens?

In any case, if it is a bug, it won't be fixed unless you put in an error report. I'd venture to say this is only affecting you since there would be many more than just your one post on the subject if it was affecting anyone else

I've worked in IT SysAdmin for 33 years and had Galaxy phones the past 10. I went back and forth with Gemini for an hour and that was one of many hail Mary attempts we tried.

It's a bug unless someone who actually has OneUI 8.5 says they don't have the problem. I could swear it wasn't like this when I first setup the phone but I've got no confirmed s26 users saying this doesn't happen with them.

And you have no confirmed S26 users saying it *is* happening for them. Gemini is no substitute for the actual programmers whoe can check your logs and see where the problem lies.

Error report already submitted. Gemini is an assistant not a substitute. I don't all the sudden lose all my pre existing expertise just for using Gemini to make sure I left no stone unturned.

Finally got a confirm not happening to all users. Shot in the dark what it could be. I suppose I'll have to go through every app and every setting with a sound toggle to try to find it. Seems like it happened when I installed the sound assistant app in good luck but uninstalling the app didn't make a difference

I've yet to confirm though their system volume slider isn't all the way down and sounds and vibrate isn't toggled off in their system UI app.

UPDATE: It was a corruption with the System UI app notifications settings. Not sure which of these two adb commands solved it as I ran both and restarted and it fixed it. I'm pretty sure the cause was installing the Sound Assistant app via GoodLock. Even though I didn't use it and just uninstalled it after looking at the app, I think it somehow moved the battery charging notification from the silent channel to another channel. But you can't edit the notification sound within the System UI App Notification Categories as Google deleted the Battery charging notification category (you will see 1 Deleted at the bottom) because that control was moved to Settings > System Sounds.

These were the commands run from Windows powershell after downloading the Android SDK for windows and using Wireless debugging to pair the phone to the computer.
