The conventional thinking goes that whenever a new company attempts to disrupt a market or an existing company gets a complete reboot, at least initially, the new or rebooted company must offer a clear price advantage over its established completion to get noticed and to grow in the market place.

If the Google Play Store is available to you, the most common reason to ever visit the Galaxy Store, I imagine, would be to avoid sideloading a few Samsung apps that are exclusive to the Galaxy Store. So, there I go on my brand new S26 Ultra (cute, but totally not worth it for those already using S23 Ultra or later; the privacy display is **bleep**; the 6 year old implementation on admittedly unltrabook-ish HP Dragonfly is infinitely better) to check the the "new and improved" Galaxy Store.

Like an obsessive teenager with more zits on his face than IQ points, I begin submitting entries to a few sweepstakes and collecting "gems" by competing corresponding activities (Temu designers would be proud). And, folks, here's the best part:

After collecting enough gems to score a $25 gift card to the overpriced-in-its-own-right Samsung Store, I find out the commonality between the value of these gems and the self-esteem of anyone willing to give the revamped Galaxy Store a shot: it is precisely zero in both cases. As I am trying to swap the gems for the gift card, I am told that they're out of gift cards (mind you, they are digital). Yes, there were warnings that the stock levels of prize items are not guaranteed, but how annoying and pathetic, nevertheless lol!

At least in my case, the only thing that Samsung accomplished was to make someone generally tolerant of the Galaxy Store fully resent it. Why are are you so cheap Samsung, oh why?

Obviously there will be no meaningful response from Samsung, but, at least, [hopefully] I made you smile 😊

I just had the same experience but with the $50 gift card. This annoyed me so much that I literally just ordered the pixel 10 pro instead of the s26 ultra like I was planning. What **bleep** thought this was a good idea?
