I decided I would try perplexity as they claim it's baked in with the Samsung s 26 Ultra. I will say I absolutely hate it. It told me it doesn't retain anything you say so for instance if you have any disabilities. It won't remember that so you have to spell that out every single time you communicate before you communicate..

It has been grossly inaccurate. It has interrupted me mid sentence... And it keeps saying the reason why it does what it does is to protect my privacy. I say I'm not asking you to protect my privacy but what I am asking is for something more personalized not every time I open up a chat with it I have to start all over from scratch as if it doesn't even know who I am..

I definitely do not have to do that with Google Gemini or Microsoft co pilot . And I don't even pay for those services.. And for some reason they find it important enough to remember what you've talked about prior. And if you're autistic or have ADHD it will remember that and know how to structure its sentences accordingly. But perplexity is borderline is useless for a personal assistant or an AI assistant if it doesn't even remember who you are

While I heard that Perplexity comes pre-installed on the S26, I haven't heard about it being baked in as part of the OS/UI. If it can be uninstalled, it's not baked in. Go to the apps list in settings or long press the app icon and see if there's an uninstall option. If there is, go ahead and uninstall it if you choose not to use it or pay for the subscription.

Perplexity is not like ChatGPT/Gemini/Deekseek etc. Once you realize their differences, they become amazing.

Perplexity is a search engine. It can find anything internet related. It is built to go out there and dig deep and find all the interconnected data points that you need. It's not meant to "talk to you" although it can but it's not meant to. It is like Google search on steroids. You know those times when you have something or a question in mind and you just don't know how to search it? Or perhaps, you're looking for something/a concept and you don't know if it exists out there in the world? Perhaps you want to search through all the minds and conversations ever had about one topic and take that bubble and then search THAT to find the hidden answer you've been looking for, and then take THAT and search for times that (yeah go wild...) You can do that in ONE SENTENCE. It definitely does have a memory, but think of it like a waiter at a restaurant. It can understand your needs and apply that to your search.

When you realize that, you realize that Gemini and Perplexity are two different tools. It's like comparing excel (Gemini) and a graphic calculator (perplexity).

Gemini can access the internet but it won't do it at every request. It's not built to do that. It's built to assist you in thinking. Gemini will use the internet as a fallback but it will guide you on what to do and how to think about things. So if you ask Gemini a question about where to get flowers, it will tell you where to walk your behind. It will tell you, "here's two or three places. But also try calling your local florist. If you can't find it there try calling your local botanist. Sometimes your grocery store or gas station will have some. If you don't have flowers do you maybe want to try another type of gift like a box of chocolates? People also enjoy chocolates or you can try making a hand built card. Who is this for? Your mother?" 😂

Gemini gives you a thinking partner.
Perplexity searches every corner of the world to find the answer to questions you never thought you'd be able to express.

They are both truly marvelous.... ONCE you understand that they are completely different and they are not designed for the same task.
