You can sideload samsung messages by downloading an APK.

A lot of people agree with you. I prefer Samsung Messages.
You can sideload the .apk and it works just fine so long as your carrier supports RCS. If you're interested in sideloading the .apk, you can search in the Members app or Google for instructions.

The future of Samsung Messages has been uncertain for quite some time.

Samsung announced the transition to Google Messages as the default messaging app for Samsung devices in 2024.

At this point, users have had 2 years' notice to transition to Google Messages.

As other users have suggested, S26 series Users can sideload the APK at their own risk. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/samsung-messages/samsung-messages-16-7-90-105-release/

Please be aware that RCS support for Samsung messages may be limited or inconsistent depending on your carrier.

At present, Google Messages remains the most reliable way for most users to access advanced messaging features.

It was available on the Galaxy Store. The S26 is the first device not to have it in the Galaxy Store.

I have the s24 and mine is still on my phone, but the s24 was the last phone that still had it before they switched everything over to google messages. I have since then disabled the samsung messages and stuck with google messages now

Will this APK messages pull over all the old SMS Samsung messages? Google uses the RCS. I upgraded to the 26 ultra last night and now all the SMS messages from my parents that passed away and things I text myself that was important are all gone! 🤬

I actually like google messages more than samsung messages. They have rcs and u can text anywhere with googlemessages.com(not sponsored btw 😂

I have the S 25 Ultra and I was able to download Samsung message from the store. If I tried to upgrade and couldn't get it I'd return it!

If you want RCS to work, just make it the default messenger app and wait for a Google play store minor update. I haven't debugged it but it works don't ask me why. S25u/26u on Verizon confirmed. 🙏

Never saw this so called notice...🤔 Then again I'm new to this community and thought that posting this concern with enough customers Samsung would take notice & fix it. I want the software that I like not the stuff being forced upon us. I'm not a Lemming willing to follow the pack off the cliff😉

Thank You, at the moment Samsung Messages is now working on my S26 Ultra & Tab S11 Ultra. It took some extra adjustments in temporarily lowering the "Blocker" & restarts.🙏👏👏
